WHAT IS PSYCHOTHERAPY?
Therapy is a safe space to talk things through, unpack what’s been weighing on you, and start making sense of it all. Together, we explore what’s going on underneath and find new ways to move forward with more clarity and confidence.
At Psychology For Life, we take a real, human approach to therapy. Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, anxious, or just not quite like yourself, we’re here to meet you where you are. We work with adults facing everything from anxiety, depression, and trauma to identity questions, neurodiversity, and everyday stress.
Our therapists use a mix of evidence-based tools, including solution-focused psychotherapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and mindfulness-based approaches. But the work we do together is shaped by you: your goals, your pace, and what matters most in your life right now.

HOW INDIVIDUAL THERAPY CAN HELP
There’s no one “right” way to do therapy. Just the way that works for you. Whether you’re facing something specific or simply feeling off and unsure why, therapy gives you space to explore, heal, and move forward at your own pace.

Anxiety & Stress Management
We help you identify the roots of your anxiety and develop coping tools to manage day-to-day stress. Whether you’re overwhelmed by expectations, racing thoughts, compulsive behaviours, or chronic tension, therapy can bring a sense of calm and control.

Depression & Emotional Numbness
If you’ve been feeling low, detached, or hopeless, therapy creates space to unpack those feelings and explore ways to reconnect with your life, your values, and your sense of purpose.

PTSD & Trauma Recovery
Healing from trauma takes time. Our trauma-informed approach to therapy honours your pace, offering support that feels safe, steady, and aligned with your readiness. We help you build resilience and process the pain, while gently holding space for what needs to be seen and understood.

Identity & Neurodiversity
Whether you're exploring questions about who you are, your past, or how you relate to the world, therapy offers space for curiosity and clarity. We affirm neurodiversity and work collaboratively to help you understand yourself more deeply, without pathologizing your experience.

Life Transitions & Burnout
Big changes, even positive ones, can bring emotional overwhelm. Individual therapy helps you navigate transitions with greater clarity, whether you're facing a career shift, relationship change, or chronic stress and burnout.

QUESTIONS ABOUT INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
If you don’t see the answer to your question here, click the button below to see more FAQs or contact us, and we’ll be happy to assist you or provide the information you need.
How long does therapy take to work?
The length of therapy varies from person to person. Some people start to notice small changes within a few weeks, while others may need several months or more to see meaningful progress. It depends on the challenges you’re facing, your goals, and how engaged you are in the process. Therapy isn’t a quick fix, but a supportive space where growth happens over time.
How do I know if I need therapy?
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, or emotionally exhausted, therapy might be a good next step. It’s also helpful if you’re navigating a life change, relationship issues, or lingering effects of past trauma. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit. Therapy can also be a powerful way to learn more about yourself, build emotional resilience, and improve your overall well-being.
What can I expect in a typical therapy session?
What types of issues can therapy help with?
Is therapy confidential?
Yes, therapy is confidential. What you share in sessions stays between you and your therapist; however, there are a few exceptions. Therapists are required by law to break confidentiality in certain circumstances. Your therapist will explain confidentiality and its limits during your first session so you know exactly what to expect and can feel safe sharing openly.
