Registered Social Worker, Psychotherapist

Welcome! My name is Ashley McMahon, I am a Registered Social Worker and hold a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Toronto. I provide individual therapy for teens and adults who are navigating life transitions, mental health and emotional challenges, or simply looking to reconnect with themselves.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in genuine connection with my clients. I draw from a variety of evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing (MI) to create a tailored experience that meets your unique situation and to work towards your set goals.

I aim to meet you where you are while gently guiding you toward greater clarity, resilience, and self-awareness. Whether you’re working through anxiety, school/job stress, burnout, depression, trauma, grief, relationship concerns, low self-esteem, or just feeling stuck, I’m here to support you with compassion and care every step of the way.

Additionally, as someone with a personal interest in video games, I also understand the unique role gaming can play in people’s lives—both as a source of connection and, at times, as a challenge. I have a particular interest in supporting individuals who may be struggling with video game overuse or addiction, helping them find balance and well-being without judgment.

I understand that starting therapy and finding the right therapist can feel uncomfortable, overwhelming, or even scary at times. That’s why I prioritize building a strong, trusting relationship and creating a safe, non-judgmental space where you feel supported in exploring your thoughts and emotions at your own pace. Your comfort and emotional safety will always be central to our work together.

At the beginning of therapy, we’ll take time to get to know one another, understand what’s bringing you in, and work together to create a personalized, goal-oriented plan. Our focus will be on helping you gain tools, insights, and coping strategies that are meaningful and practical so you can feel more empowered in navigating the challenges you are facing.
