Mental health treatment / Psychotherapy
Mental health treatment / psychotherapy for individual appointments range in cost from $200-$275/hr, depending on the clinician’s credentials and experience. Couples counselling is $250/hr.
In-person and virtual therapy appointments are both available options for treatment. Therapy sessions are 50 minutes long, with the remaining 10 minutes of the hour being set aside for notes, treatment planning, and file maintenance.
comprehensive psychological / psychoeducational assessment
The cost of a comprehensive psychological / psychoeducational assessment is $3,850. If the assessment includes a query for Autism Spectrum Disorder, additional testing will be necessary. As such, the fee for an Autism assessment is $4,400.
gifted assessment
The cost of a gifted assessment is $1,100.
Psychodiagnostic / Mental Health Assessments
Psychodiagnostic assessments are billed at an hourly rate of $275/hr. These assessments typically take between 6–8 hours to complete, depending on complexity of the referral.
Fees for psychological services are not covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP). Coverage for psychological services is often provided through private extended health insurance plans, workplace benefits, or employee assistance plans. It is recommended that you consult with your extended health insurance company to determine the specifics of your coverage.
In cases where a person may have limited coverage, short-term therapy of 3 to 5 sessions may be considered. A little therapy is often better than no therapy. One or two sessions can sometimes be instrumental in helping you learn about yourself, your needs, and how to best tackle your problems.
Clients are asked to pay at the end of each session using cash, cheque, credit card, or e-transfer. A receipt will be provided, which can be submitted to your insurance provider for reimbursement or used for medical expense claims on your income tax.
In addition to providing detailed receipts for reimbursement, Psychology for Life offers direct billing to most major extended health insurance providers when available through your plan. Our administrative team is happy to assist with direct billing questions whenever possible.
